Welcome messages play a crucial role in fostering a friendly and inclusive environment on your Discord server. As a server owner or administrator, it’s important to greet new members warmly as they join your community. Personalized welcome messages can significantly impact the overall tone of your server and create a positive first impression for newcomers. An effective welcome message can showcase your server’s unique features, highlight important channels, and provide links to valuable resources. It can also promote upcoming events or activities, encouraging new members to engage and contribute to the community. In this article, we will guide you through the steps to set up welcome messages in your Discord server, ensuring that every new member feels welcomed and informed from the moment they join.

Access the Welcome Module

Go to the welcome module on the Maki dashboard.

Set the Welcome Channel

In the "Channel" dropdown, select the channel where welcome messages should be sent.

Customize the Welcome Message

Expand the "Welcome Message" section. Enter your personalized welcome message. You can use variables like {user.mention} to make the message more engaging. Click the icons to select emojis or see the list of variables. Example message: Welcome to {server.name}, {user.mention}! We are thrilled to have you here. Please take a moment to check out #rules and introduce yourself in #introductions.

Create a Welcome Banner

Expand the "Welcome Banner" section. Choose a "Layout" for your banner. Upload a "Background" image of your choice. Note that the images should be 1000 pixels wide and 400 or 200 pixels high, depending on the chosen layout. Customize the "Color" and "Font" for the text on the banner. You can use the /welcome command to preview your welcome message.

Set Up a Private Message

If you want to send a private message to new members, enable the "Private Message" option and enter your message.

Assign Automatic Roles

Select "Automatic Roles" to give roles to new users when they join your server. Enter the roles you want to assign automatically. Make sure that you don't assign roles with sensitive permissions!

Save Changes

After configuring all the settings, click the "Save Changes" button to apply your changes.

By following these steps, you can create a welcoming and informative message that helps new members feel at home in your Discord server. This setup ensures that every new member receives a warm introduction, understands the server's key features, and knows how to get started in the community.
